Android Wear 2.0, the current stable version of Google’s portable operating system, is based on Android Nougat 7.0. In early October, Mountain View launched the beta test program for the new version of Android Wear based on Oreo, testing with LG Watch Sport.
The test phase has been completed in the last few hours: distribution of the Oreo update to Android Wear smartwatches has officially started. The news has been confirmed by Hoi Lam, Google’s Wearables development promoter, with an ad on Google+: “Android Oreo roll out to Android Wear is starting today“.
Android Wear Oreo, we lack information
Currently, there is a lack of detailed information to determine when individual models will receive the update; Hoi Lam has limited itself to reporting that the timing is determined by each product. However, it is not surprising that one of the first smartwatches to be upgraded is LG Watch Sport, a model, as mentioned above, used to test the beta version.
Novelties introduced by Oreo for Android Wear include, among other things, the ability to set three vibration intensity levels for notifications, the option to disable the touch interface, an improvement in battery life through background process optimization, notification channels and the extension of supported languages.
