The iMac Pro will be available from Thursday, December 14. The confirmation comes directly from Apple, after Phil Schiller revealed to T3 that the imminent market launch would be “a matter of days.
Unveiled in June during WWDC 2017, iMac Pro aroused considerable interest, and we’re already looking forward to more than six months, in the performance and technical specifications offered to the professional world, primarily developers, video publishers and 3D animators.
iMac Pro, Apple’s most powerful computer
iMac Pro is the first iMac to support Intel Xeon CPUs with up to 18 cores and 36 threads, and can be considered the most powerful Mac on the market today.
Professionals love iMac. So when we were asked to build an iMac killer, we did. And then we went much further, creating an iMac with the most powerful mix of graphics, processors, memory and I/O ever seen on a Mac. And we did it without adding a millimeter to its iconic all-in-one design. Everyone from video editors to 3D animators, musicians, software developers and scientists can do what they’ve never done before.
Remember, Apple iMac Pro integrates up to 128GB of ECC RAM, up to 4TB of SSD storage space, Radeon Pro Vega GPUs with 16GB of video memory, and a total power of 11 Teraflops in a single precision. The 27-inch screen with a resolution of 5K, as well as USB type A (4 in total), 4 Thunderbolt 3, an SD player and a 10GB Ethernet port are indispensable. Inside there is also a new two-fan cooling system capable of optimally managing the air flow.
iMac Pro can be purchased from December 14 at a starting price of $4,999.
