Samsung W2018 is official: camera with f/1.5 aperture and housing design for 2,000 euros

1st December 2017

After a few months of noise, the Samsung W2018 finally became official in China. It comes with the iconic housing design and a main camera with an f/1.5 focal aperture, almost certainly the world’s first camera to have this feature.

Confirm the technical specifications previously filtered, the new Samsung W2018 is driven by a Snapdragon 835 SoC accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal memory, the operating system is based on Android version 7.1.1 Nougat, the battery is only 2,300 mAh and the screens are two, both Super AMOLED 4.2 inches with Full HD resolution.

The rear image sensor, with aperture f/1.5, is 12MP, while the front image sensor is 5MP. In case we find a fingerprint reader, a side-physical key to start the Bixby voice assistant and a classic physical keyboard. Given its shape, the W2018 is certainly not a thin or lightweight product (247g) but remains in line with the size of the few similar models.

This Samsung device is presumably only available in China and South Korea at an unannounced price of around €2,000, like its predecessor.
