WhatsApp for iPhone is updated to version 2.18.80

24th July 2018

WhatsApp for iPhone has been updated, and although only one new feature is included in the official list of new features, the ability to send messages to groups using Siri also seems to contain some other interesting features, which are not yet accessible to users.

WABetaInfo tell us what’s new, and they’ve delved into the latest version of the application and discovered one of the following features that will be introduced. This is a preview of the media files received directly from the notification, as you can see from the images below.

WhatsApp for iPhone will allow you to preview photos and GIFs in notifications

Remember that you can preview the file by using the 3D Touch in the notification you are interested in or by scrolling down. At the moment, if there is a photo or GIF, it is indicated by a camera icon or a small shuttle, while soon you will be able to see the file in question directly.

In addition, there seems to be the possibility of downloading the image directly from this screen, in case the user has disabled automatic media downloading. This feature is already present in the latest version 2.1.8.80 of WhatsApp for iPhone, but is not yet active. The team will probably proceed with its commissioning shortly.
